A much-anticipated update is on the way for Texas DPS Credit Union members! Soon, all members who currently have a debit card will receive a new contactless debit card, making everyday purchases faster, easier, and more secure!

With contactless technology, you simply tap your card at checkout instead of inserting or swiping. It’s a quick, convenient way to pay, and perfect for those moments when you are on the go!

Why Contactless?

Contactless debit cards make everyday purchases faster, easier, and just as secure as using a chip card. Instead of inserting or swiping your card, you can simply tap your card on the payment terminal at checkout.

Contactless technology uses advanced encryption to help protect your information. Plus, your card never leaves your hand during the transaction, adding an extra layer of security.

With millions of retailers now accepting contactless payments, you can enjoy a quicker, more convenient way to pay whether you are grabbing coffee, running errands, or making a larger purchase.

How to Use Your Contactless Card

Using your contactless debit card is simple:

Look for the contactless symbol on the payment terminal at checkout.
Tap your card near the symbol on the terminal.
Wait for the confirmation—a beep, checkmark, or light—indicating your payment is complete.

For some purchases, you may still be asked to insert your card or enter your PIN for added security. You can always use your card the traditional way by inserting the chip if contactless is not available.

What Existing Cardholders Need to Know

If you currently have a Texas DPS Credit Union debit card, you will automatically receive your new contactless debit card in the mail once the reissue begins. To make sure your card arrives without delays, we encourage all members to log in to your online banking and confirm that your mailing address is up to date by March 20, 2026.

Once your new card arrives, you’ll be able to enjoy the same trusted access to your funds—now with an even easier way to pay.

Important Information

If you currently have a Texas DPS Credit Union debit card, you will automatically receive your new contactless card in the mail as part of our reissue. Your existing card will continue to work until you activate your new one.
Once your contactless card arrives, simply call the number on the card, or activate it using Card Management within the mobile app. After activating your new card, you should destroy your old card for security purposes.
To avoid delays in receiving your new card, please make sure your mailing address is up to date by logging into your online banking, or contacting the credit union.
Your existing debit card number will remain the same, but the expiration date and CVV code will change. If you have the card saved with merchants or set up for automatic payments, you will need to update those details once you receive the new card.
When activating your new card, you will also be prompted create a new PIN.
You will need to add your new debit card to your mobile wallet to continue using Apple Pay® and/or Google Pay™.
