OVERDRAFT PROTECTION

Because of the new legislation, every financial institution is now required to get an opt-in form signed, and in their files, for any account holder who wishes to have overdraft coverage continue on their checking account for everyday debit card and ATM transactions as it has been used in the past.  If you have more than one checking account you will need to fill out a form for each one.

Soon you will receive a letter and an opt-in form entitled “What You Need to Know about Overdrafts and Overdraft Fees”.  Please read, select an option, sign and return the form to us by mail:
Texas DPS Credit Union / P.O. Box 15346 / Austin, TX  78761
or drop the form off at our location on 621 W. St. Johns Ave / Austin, TX 78752.

IMPORTANT:  If you do not sign this form and return it to us, effective July 1, 2010, you will not be able to take advantage of overdraft protection to honor everyday debit card and ATM transactions.

As of July 1, 2010, if you have not filed an opt-in form and you are using your debit card for even just 1 penny more than your account’s available balance, your transaction may be declined.

Contact us if you have questions or want more information.
